Why I Coach a Free Running Club Every Monday in Hamble
Every Monday at 7pm I'm outside Pinnacle Performance on Hamble Point Marina, coaching the Pinnacle Performance Running Club.
It's free, it's open to every pace, and it's been running since 2014, when I opened my first gym on the marina and wanted more than a place to train. I wanted a running community, and these days we run it in partnership with Netley Abbey Runners.
So why does a running coach give up every Monday night for a free session?
Because I get to watch people actually run.
Online coaching gives me data, and I use it, but on a Monday I see how someone moves, what changes in their form when they're tired, and what they could improve that no watch would ever pick up. Some of the runners I coach travel from as far as London to be there for exactly that reason.
Every session starts with a warm up and drills, then a main session that changes every week. Club runners, coached athletes and people turning up for the first time all train together, and honestly that mix is the best bit.
Bring your kit, some water, and a head torch now the nights are drawing in.
If you want more than one coached session a week, have a look at running coaching. If you just want to run with good people on a Monday, come and find us.
