New-season new race environment and a very scenic location
Ashridge Standard distance world qualifying event for the 2022 championships in #australia
It was great to see real athletes in the flesh and, to me, some of the virtual friends I have made over lockdown.
The event was very well organised 🙌
The course was interesting – fast yes, fast in the wrong places, yes! A course that challenges not only your current condition but your bottle, your inner weakness, your willingness to lose complete control!
Off road, gravel, potholes, drains, ramps at speed, airtime on a TT bike, cars etc. etc. you know where this ends.
All made better by the sheer talent and camaraderie of my fellow competitors.
I finished 21st overall and 6th in age cat. I loved every minute of the race, although on the last run, I completely forgot it was a time trial start, looking back and forth in my own little world thinking no one was around me, so there is no one to race the line. Only when I crossed the line, it dawned on me that you should always race 💯 to the end.
Deep down, I left eating humble pie and that it’s time to really step up the game; I’m just not at the level I need to be, defeated by incredible athletes I look up to.
Well done, Ant, Jamie and Al, you really smashed it! 1,2,3
Thanks, family, friends and sponsors, especially the team at KYMIRA sports who got my new suit out to me so quickly! My admin 🤦♂️oh the Infrared suit is pretty special 🙌
KYMIRA® Sport was born from an exploration of how a biochemist and athlete could recover from an injury. Link in bio 👌
